Dan Tortora is a godsend to authors. He’s simply the best. Just hire him.

He knows how to challenge you to do your best. He worked with me through two award-winning books that I could never have finished without him. When I’m ready for the next one, he’s my first call.

His wise, dependable guidance is a special gift.

You’re writing nonfiction book that informs, inspires, entertains, or shakes things up—

a book that resonates with readers, showcases your voice and your expertise, and opens doors for you.

You’ve done the work, run the searches, and leaned on the “friend who was an English major” (everyone’s got one of those!).

Now you need more: a professional editor to optimize structure, sharpen flow, and polish the fine details…

and/or an experienced book coach to guide you through the publishing process and beyond.

Switch on your walkie talkie and call the backup you need.

Hi, I’m Daniel Tortora, editor, book coach, and publishing strategist.

For over a decade, I’ve helped writers refine, elevate, and publish nonfiction books that matter.

In doing so, I share what I’ve learned since my days as a broke PhD student.

While I no longer survive on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and bananas (yuck!), my love for books endures.

Deep dives, detailed preparation, and genuine enthusiasm inspire each project.

I’ve edited over 12 million words, coached several hundred authors, and written 115+ articles on writing, publishing, and book marketing.

Client successes include glowing reviews in the Wall Street Journal, dozens of #1 New Release tags, 200+ Amazon reader reviews in two weeks, paid speaking gigs and opportunities, and appearances in documentaries, podcasts, and live media.

Many authors go on to publish multiple successful books with my help.

I’m also a traditionally published author who trained under a Pulitzer Prize-winner. One of my books now lives in 1,200 libraries.

Efficient, accurate, and encouraging, I provide reliable edits and clear next steps so you can move forward with confidence.

Let’s make your book the one readers can’t put down.

Working with Daniel turned my panic about the publishing process into pure excitement!

If you want someone who is patient and incredibly knowledgeable, I highly recommend Daniel!

Dan is an outstanding editor.

Dan doesn’t just read your material, he thinks about it. He cares about it. He checks sources, he fixes grammar, and he considers how the reader will react. He gives direction, while still respecting the author’s vision. . . . He gets to the point, elicits your input, provides direction, and does so efficiently.

I will absolutely be working with him again.
